In “All the Weyrs of Pern” McCaffrey has managed something she has been struggling with for a long time. She has managed to take Pern into a new technological era without destroying the fantastic mood. Previously every time she has forced technology into the picture the story has become flat and dull, but this time she has done it. We are still present in a fantastic world that’s easy to dream oneself into and identify with. The book is very exciting and the tension builds up to a huge grand finale. In other words this book is almost impossible to put down. The end is so beautiful one just has to read another Pern book as soon as this one is completed.

You also get great value for you money. The book is almost 500 pages and the writing is tiny. Hours of entertainment in other words. All in all this is absolutely one of the best of her “new” books about the dragon world Pern. However this should not be the first book you read about Pern. You will get a whole lot more out if this book if you already know the world and the people living in it. I highly recommend this book.
