gnu/linux

GNU/Linux is a term promoted by the Free Software Foundation (FSF), its founder Richard Stallman, and its supporters, for operating systems that include GNU software and the Linux kernel. GNU/Linux has been my OS platform of choice since 1999, and Debian is the name of the game. This is a collection of my many GNU/Linux related posts.

Posting to Drupal sites from Emacs

Emacs LogoDrupal LogoI just discovered that the weblogger-mode for Emacs can be used to post content to Drupal websites. Posting new content to my sites should be a breeze from now on. This should result in much more frequent posts here as well.Read more »»

HTC Desire mass storage fail on Debian

TuxEver since I got my HTC Desire I've had trouble using it in mass storage mode on Debian. The problems occur booth on Squeeze and Lenny. Instead of showing up as /dev/sdx#, only the first partition of the memory card shows up, and it shows up as /dev/sdx. /dev/sdx can be mounted, and copying from the memory card works fine. Copying to the memory card doesn't work. It looks like everything is hunky dory, but the files are actually never saved on the memory card. Partitioning the memory card doesn't work either. Gparted shows the whole memory card as «unpartitioned».Read more »»

OsmocomBB SIMtrace

SIMtrace hardwareWhile at the Chaos Communications Camp I purchased a SIMtrace card.

Osmocom SIMtrace is a software and hardware system for passively tracing SIM-ME communication between the SIM card and the mobile phone.

I've already got it set up and running, and played around with it a bit. Hopefully I'll have some time to do some true SIM-sniffing soon.Read more »»

Chaos Communications Camp 2011

I'm going to the Chaos Communications Camp in Germany August 9th - 15th. Feel free to get in touch if you want to meet up there. I'll be holding a workshop for the openLOC-project based on my master's thesis, and I'm really looking forward to getting in touch with other GSM-hackers, so don't hesitate to say hi!

New version of FlicServ released

I just released version 1.1 of FlicServ. This version fixes a race condition that could cause the linebreak to be inserted before or somewhere in the barcode itself. More here.

New blog up and running

I forgot to post this here before now. A couple of months ago I finally got a new quick to post to blog up and running, since I hardly ever seem to update this one other then when I write tutorials and guide.

To make a long story short: I created a blog using emacs, org-mode, jekyll and git/gitosis.Read more »»

My life inside Emacs: Twitter

Today I came across a great add-on for Emacs: TwIt. TwIt is quite simply a Twitter plug-in for Emacs with an optional mode. You can post tweets, follow your friends tweets, list your friends and your followers, perform searches, retrieve @msgs and direct messages, and even use multiple accounts.

This is great news for me. Now I can, once again, sink down into the comfortable lisp environment of Emacs and continue to live my life inside of Emacs.Read more »»

gsmblog on new CMF and other news

I've finally got gsmblog.net up and running on a new CMF. It's really a relief to get rid of the old crappy Joomla the site was running off previously. The new site has been up and running for a bit more than a week, and so far there seems not to be any major problems. I still have to do a lot of tweaking here and there, specially on the Norwegian version of the site. Unfortunately I've been knocked out with a fever for a few days, so I'm rather back-logged at the moment.Read more »»

Neo Freerunner

Yesterday I received a Neo Freerunner in the mail. I've spent a little bit of time installing the newest OpenMoko and also the latest QT Extended. So hopefully I'll soon start to write some apps for the Freerunner, and start writing some guides.

Other stuff going on in my life (I finally finished my exams this semester, so now I have time to start updating my sites, and start doing all of the stuff I had planned for this fall that I never got around to). Anyhow.Read more »»

Opera bookmarks pipemenu for OpenBox

TuxI have created a pipemenu for OpenBox allowing you to have a menu of your Opera bookmarks anywhere in the OpenBox window manager. When you click a bookmark in the menu it is opened in Opera or if Opera is already running in a new tab. To read more about OpenBox pipemenus and how to use them visit the OpenBox wiki.
