GNOME is a desktop environment and graphical user interface that runs on top of a computer operating system. It is composed entirely of free and open source software. When I was young and naive and had yet to learn that GUI-bloat is evil, I used GNOME. After a brief encounter with openbox I found stumpwm and haven't looked back. Adding universal shortcuts in ubuntu/gnome

TuxThe default keyboard shortcut application in gnome, as you might have noticed, isn't worth very much. You can only assign keyboard shortcuts to a list of predefined commands. Not very valuable really. It is however possible to define up to 12 custom keyboard shortcuts in a slightly more complicated manner.
